Air Stripper
Bisco/NEEP “Shallow Tray” Systems
Application
Removal of dissolved phase Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) from contaminated water
Features and Specifications
- North East Environmental Products (NEEP) are the original inventors of low profile air stripping technology and the “Shallow Tray” brand holds a strong international position
- Air stripper bodies are constructed with either stainless steel (rectangular) or polyethylene (cylindrical)
- A wide range of water flow capacities are available. The NEEP Modelling program is used to select the most appropriate unit size and number of trays to achieve targeted VOC removal efficiencies
- Application of low flow air strippers is limited to removal of volatile hydrocarbons, specifically light chain (C6-C9). Free phase hydrocarbons must be separated from water as a pre-treatment to avoid fouling of the air stripper. Dissolved or emulsified heavy chain hydrocarbons may required downstream treatment, for example through filtration media
- The basic Air Stripper unit supplied by ERR includes the following components:
- Sump with internal discharge piping and discharge port, sight tube fittings
- Trays with gaskets and latches
- Cover with water inlet ports, vapour discharge outlet and mist eliminator
- Compliance with Australian electrical ratings and Hazardous Area requirements is achieved by locally sourcing blowers/motors and control systems in compliance with Australian Standards
- On client request, ERR can also source and install the blower, fluid pumps, instrumentation, related piping and controls required for complete system operation
User’s Advantage
- NEEP Modelling program is available for stripper model selection based on contaminants being treated, flow rates and effluent discharge targets
- Easy to use — “Shallow Tray” systems are designed for ease of cleaning and longevity in the field
Ordering Information
- The following information is needed for selection of an appropriate model and number of trays for specific applications:
- water flow rate
- influent water temperature
- concentration of dissolved VOC’s (by compound) in the influent water
- target VOC concentration (by compound) in effluent water
